Matt Bronleewe
Songwriter/Producer

Matt Bronleewe is one of the most visible and respected producers within Contemporary Christian Music. Best known for his production and songwriting work with Jars of Clay, Natalie Imbruglia, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith, and Plumb, Bronleewe is a man whose imagination and inspiration transcends the conventional norm as he ventures into ambitious creative territory.

Bronleewe attended Greenville College in Greenville, IL. Kindling a friendship with Charlie Lowell at a scholarship competition, they became roommates and lived next door to Dan Haseltine and Steve Mason. Jars of Clay developed shortly after and they started playing at local clubs and colleges. The band’s success was rapid and they quickly found themselves with a record deal, a hit single and a platinum-selling album. Despite the band’s overwhelming success, Bronleewe opted to leave the band to pursue a career as an economics professor.

Bronleewe’s scholarly pursuits were cut short when he got a call to co-write and play guitar for newly signed Warner Bros artist Sarah Jahn.  Soon after, he was offered his first production opportunity, working on Plumb’s debut album on Essential Records. This began his successful songwriting and production career, which has included Natalie Imbruglia’s multi-platinum and GRAMMY nominated debut album “Left Of The Middle” on BMG/RCA, Rebecca St. James album, “If I Had One Chance to Tell You” on Forefront Records, Plumb’s album “Chaotic Resolve” on Curb Records, and breakthrough band Leeland with their ambitious debut album “Sounds of Melodies” on Essential Records. In addition, he produced and co-wrote for platinum selling artist Michael W. Smith’s latest albums “Healing Rain” and “Stand” on Reunion Records.

To add to his list of accomplishments, Bronleewe has expanded his love of story telling beyond music into authorship. He is currently penning a trilogy of novels for West Bow Press a division of Thomas Nelson. Illuminated, which hits the shelves in late summer 2007, begins the adventurous series about rare religious manuscripts and the mysteries within.

I believe we are entering a new Renaissance,” shares Bronleewe. “We have the power to express our thoughts, ideas and knowledge in ways never before possible. There are new creative mediums cropping up everyday. It’s easy to get caught up in the differences between these creative outlets, but in truth, they are synergetic, working together to foster a new age of artistic innovation. In the end, it all boils down to storytelling, and we all have a great story to tell.”
